How to enable internet sharing from the desktop app with iOS devices

By enabling this configuration iOS devices don't need to have a WiFi profile installed to run diagnostics app.

macOS Monterey Instructions:

  1. Connect an iOS device by USB cable and trust the device with the computer.

  2. Connect the max number of devices you plan to process at one time.

    1. Note - If you have multiple ports to map, you will need to connect an iOS device to each cable.

  3. Then open the System Preferences on Mac OS.

  4. Open Sharing

  5. Click Internet Sharing on the left

  6. Share your connection from: should be set to LAN to use the ethernet from the Mac computer.

    1. Note - you can share your computer's WiFi but ethernet is recommended.

  7. On the right you will see iPhone USB show up as an option to enable

  8. Enable the checkbox(s) on iPhone USB under To computers using:

  9. On the left enable the checkbox for Internet Sharing to complete the setup

macOS Ventura Instructions:

  1. Connect an iOS device by USB cable and trust the device with the computer.

  2. Connect the max number of devices you plan to process at one time.

  3. Then open the System Preferences on Mac OS.

  4. Search and open Sharing

  5. Click on Internet Sharing the info icon on the right.

  6. Share your connection from: should be set to ethernet from the Mac computer.

    1. Note - you can share your computer's WiFi but ethernet is recommended.

  7. In the table below you will see iPhone USB show up as an option to enable

  8. Enable the checkbox(s) on iPhone USB under To computers using:

  9. Click Done and last enable the toggle for Internet Sharing to complete the setup

Phonecheck Desktop Settings to Update:

  1. Open the desktop app

  2. Open the Customizations

  3. Navigate to Erase & Restore

  4. You can disable the WiFi Profile from PEO as it isn't needed now.

  5. Connect the devices like normal and everything should work as it did previously but without the need for WiFi profile installation.

The device doesn't reach out to the internet and App doesn't open

  1. If the device doesn't work with the internet sharing over the USB the user can push the WiFi profile to the device as a workaround to connect it to the WiFi network instead.

  2. Select the device box

  3. Select the Push WiFi button

  4. If the device is on the Home screen the user will need to connect to WiFi manually.

  5. This can be done by installing the WiFi profile manually.
