Preparing the iPhone
Before processing any Apple Watch, the iPhone must be fully prepared.
This setup is required only once — you won’t need to repeat it for each watch.
-
Connect a clean iPhone
-
Make sure the iPhone is not paired with any Apple Watch.
-
The iPhone must be reset or erased.
(You can erase the device directly through the Phonecheck Desktop app.)
-
-
Supervise the iPhone and install the Wi-Fi profile
-
During supervision, use the QR code method to install the Wi-Fi profile.
-
-
Enable Location Services
-
On the iPhone, go to:
Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → ON
⚠️ Important: Do not open the Phonecheck app yet.
This step ensures the app can properly detect and prepare for Apple Watch pairing. (This edge case will be resolved in an upcoming release.)
-
-
Open the Phonecheck app on the iPhone
-
Launch the app and allow all permissions when prompted.
-
-
Verify readiness for pairing
-
Confirm that the Apple Watch Pairing Screen appears on both:
-
The Phonecheck app on the iPhone
-
The Phonecheck Desktop Device Box
-
-
Once visible, the iPhone is fully prepared for Apple Watch testing.
-
Processing Apple Watches
After the iPhone is prepared, you can begin testing Apple Watches.
-
Pair the Apple Watch
-
Open the Watch app on the iPhone and start pairing the first Apple Watch.
-
-
Wait for profile installation
-
After pairing:
-
The Phonecheck mobile app will display an Apple Watch icon with status “Preparing Apple Watch.”
-
The Phonecheck Desktop app will show the paired Apple Watch details, including battery level.
-
-
-
Install the Phonecheck app on the Apple Watch
-
Since the Supervision Flow is used, you must manually install the app:
-
Open the Watch app → Available Apps
-
Tap Install next to Phonecheck
-
-
-
Open the Phonecheck app on both devices
-
Launch the Phonecheck app on the iPhone and the Apple Watch.
-
This activates the Apple Watch license and starts the diagnostics.
-
-
Completion and erasure
-
When the process completes:
-
If Auto Erase is enabled, the Apple Watch will erase automatically.
-
Otherwise, you can erase manually by pressing the 🗑 Delete icon in the Device Box on the Desktop.
-
-
-
Generate the Erase Certificate
-
After erasure, an Erase Certificate will automatically generate.
-
You can now go ahead and pair and process the next Apple Watch.
-
You don't need to re-prepare the iPhone between watches.
-
Tips & Notes
-
The iPhone preparation is a one-time setup — reuse the same iPhone for multiple Apple Watches.
-
If the pairing or “Begin Test” screen doesn’t appear:
-
Verify all permissions are granted.
-
Ensure the Phonecheck app is installed on both the iPhone and the Apple Watch.
-
- Future Phonecheck updates will further automate this process, reducing manual steps.
- You can pull Battery Health manually if needed by selecting the "..." three dots button on the Device Square UI
